Hayashi Kancho Sensei
Head Sensei
Hayashi Sensei was born on September 4, 1960, in Hilo, Hawai‘i Island, and holds the rank of 6th Dan in Judo. In 1988, he founded Shudokan Judo Club in Hilo, Hawai‘i, with deep respect for the teachings of Kanō Jigorō Shihan, the founder of Judo.
Through seminars and international training sessions, Shudokan actively welcomes instructors from Japan and promotes strong cooperation and cultural exchange between Japan and the United States.
He also organizes training trips to Japan, offering his students invaluable opportunities to experience Judo in its birthplace and to grow as globally minded judoka. In particular, Hayashi Sensei maintains close ties with Tokai University, Tokai University Sagami High School, Matsumae Judo Juku, and Keio Senior High School, fostering ongoing exchanges that support mutual visits, technical development, and the training of future leaders. In addition, Hayashi Sensei has made significant contributions to the growth and unity of the local Judo community as a former President of the 50th State Judo Association.
林マイケル 1960年9月4日生まれ、ハワイ島ヒロ出身。
柔道六段。林館長は、1988年、ハワイ島ヒロにおいて加納治五郎先生の教えを重んじ、修道館を創立しました。修道館では、セミナーや国際交流稽古を通じて日本から柔道指導者を迎え入れ、日米柔道の連携を積極的に推進しています。また、日本合宿を企画し、修道館の生徒たちに日本での貴重な稽古の機会を提供するなど、国際的な人材育成にも力を注いでいます。特に、東海大学 や東海大相模高等学校、松前柔道塾、慶應義塾高等学校 との継続的な交流を通じて、指導者や生徒の相互訪問を行い、技術交流と人材育成に努めています。さらに、林館長は「アメリカ合衆国50州柔道連盟」元会長としても、地域柔道界の発展と調和に大きく貢献し続けています。
